Sullivan used this page, and others like it, as working models to create the final book, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis - the Book of the Dead - the recitation of which would unleash the Kandarian Demon which would turn humans into 'deadites'.
This pageis pictured in the film (see the still in the photographic selection), so it served as the model for a final page in the Necronomicon as pictured in Evil Dead 2. The page is revealed near the beginning of the film, as the pages of the book turn.
This amazing Book of the Dead was sculpted by Russ Lukich and is 1:1 scale to the book seen in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 2. The book opens up to reveal 36 full colour pages that are identical to the runes and chants in the screen-used book!
